Forecast Airport Operations
Projecting future airport operations is a key element in understanding the long-term noise exposure around RSW. Airport proprietors prepare aviation activity forecasts during the development of their long-term planning document known as an airport master plan. An airport master plan is typically updated every 5 to 7 years. RSW’s most recent airport master plan, completed in 2004 and approved by the FAA, forecast that by the year 2020, airport operations would total almost 140,000 operations per year. This is a substantial increase from the reported 90,833 operations that occurred in 2005 from the local FAA ATCT. The chart below shows the forecast of airport operations that was developed during the 2004 master plan and used in the Part 150 study.
